Sun Cycle

A pergola built for Sun Cycle's New Year's Day 2020 event at the Coburg Velodrome. A repetitious, wing-like truss formation floats overhead, forming a lattice pattern from below that continues through the lateral bracing wrapping all four sides. A clear polycarbonate roof hugs the base of the nine trusses, sheltering the artists and catching the lights so that, after dark, the pergola reads as a glittering cave of light. Designed and built by alterplace with Billy Staughton.
